The International Training Center`s courses consist of beginner, medium and advanced pipeline training with angular shovels, shovels and sidebooms. In addition, ITEC offers special excavation classes for waterway crossing/stream crossings, carpet handling and bridge construction, as well as live lifting pipes, horizontal directional drilling, folding techniques, deck jacks, vacuworx tutors and hydroelectric excavations. Safety and productivity are guiding principles for both the IUOE and the Pipeline Contractors Association (PLCA), established in 1948 as a means for various pipeline suppliers to promote safe and efficient pipeline construction practices, negotiate employment contracts and resolve problems that Indians often face. The day begins with books, videos, photos and 3D animations to help students better understand the tasks to be performed on site that day. The tasks performed simulate those of a real pipeline contract, with a focus on safety, OSHA, FERC, Gas Company and Environmental Compliance. Both classroom and on-site training are taught by professional pipelines that have acquired long experience and knowledge in the pipeline industry, with and for professional union pipeline contractors. Active IUOE members with a good reputation can access the descriptions of the pipeline training course and enrol in CLIQUANT HERE courses. A well-trained business engineer working in the pipeline industry is safer and more productive, resulting in a product that is better processed for owners, contractors and the public. Top-notch qualification training adds value to projects for pipeline contractors and a more rewarding career for IUOE members. The schedule is 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. The program uses the most modern classrooms for 2 hours in the morning, followed by 8 hours of hands-on field training. Each class is designed for progressive training, starting with basic techniques and adding more complex tasks when the operator`s qualification level improves. The program is open to active members of the U.S.
and Canadian IUOE and offers courses at two training institutions. In the joint use of these objectives, IUOE and PLCA have partnered to create the National Pipeline Training Program and work tirelessly to ensure the skills, integrity and accountability of members to the public. The main site is the IUOE International Training and Education Center (ITEC) at the gates of Houston, Texas. The second site uses the IUOE Local 181 training facility in Boston, Kentucky. Classes at IUOE Local 181 in Kentucky include John Henry Rock Drilling, Sideboom, Winkeldozer and dredging training for slope work or still terrain.
