Winter can be pretty dreary with the lack of warm sunshine and outdoor activities. Luckily for us, we can warm our wintry hands simply by downloading one of the coolest Android apps. To give you an idea of exactly what this means, one of the most awesome apps to use during wintertime, called Heater, uses battery life to warm your phone up beyond standard functioning levels. The end result? Warm hands without the discomfort or inconvenience of a fire or basic heater!
Many of the coolest Android apps can easily keep you occupied for as little or as long as you’d like. Need to take notes in a business meeting but forgot a pen and pad? There are notepad apps. Need to find something to occupy a few minutes (or hours) of spare time? There are tons of cool gaming and educational apps!
The majority of smart phone users seem to enjoy using Android apps compared to other server apps due to their accessibility and typically low costs. Whether you’re using apps for the first time, searching for the perfect utility app, or just looking to see what’s cool and new on the app market, I’ve compiled a list of the coolest Android apps for you to check out in 2016.
Evernote is free and seems to be one of the coolest and most efficient organizational applications. It is sleek and has many options for personal and professional use, including chatting options for group projects. It allows not only text or handwritten entries, but also web, photo, and audio files. This app is best for those of us that like to stay organized without paper or for those of us who have grown tired of the limits of most of the typical notepad apps.
Snapseed is free and recommended for mobile photographers who want quality editing options. In comparison to several other photo-editing apps, this one has a more extensive selection of editing options with professional-grade results previously only thought possible when done via desktop or computer. If you’re an avid photo-editor or even just hoping to toy with some of your photos, try this app out for the new year.
Pocket Casts is $3.99, which is a very fair price for the passionate podcast listener due to the fact that it’s AD-FREE! There also aren’t any episode limits. If you love podcasts yet loathe those ads and play limits, this is the app for you. Personally, I think the coolest feature for this app is the ability to remove silence that tends to make listening to a complete podcast difficult due to time limits.
Zombies, Run! Zombies, Run! has both a free and a paid version. This app allows you to incorporate the love of zombies with the health benefits of running, if that’s your thing. I think I’d be much more likely to run if I heard zombies groaning towards me than my favorite song that I might be tempted to stop and dance to. The coolest part is that it features a storyline as well, so it distracts you from the dull fact that you’re exercising and instead could be interpreted as an interactive real-world game!
Airbnb Airbnb is a super-cool lodging app – and it’s free. If you’re into travelling but want to stay somewhere other than a hotel or if you’re looking to make some extra money renting space out to other travelers, check this app out! Its renters and providers have submitted lots of positive feedback if you’re thinking something like this is too good to be true.
Duolingo : Learn Languages Free
Duolingo is free. It offers a sleek layout with no ads. Whether you want to learn other languages for fun, travel, or work, Duolingo makes it easy and entertaining with games and challenges. If learning another language in school was too boring but still interests you, give this app a go!
Opera Max – Data Savings
Opera Max – Data Savings is free! Everyone using a smart phone most likely has to deal with a data plan; this cool Android app helps cut down on how much data you use on your favorite apps! Perfect for if you really love streaming but have very limited data to work with, as this compresses the things you love viewing without sacrificing quality in order to consume up to 50% less data!
RunPee is one of my favorites of the new Android apps on this list because, let’s be honest, who hasn’t shared the pain of needing to take a potty break in the middle of a movie you just paid over $10 to see? Better yet, you won’t have to annoy anyone around you by asking what you missed when you left! It even has an alert feature that vibrates discreetly when a window of opportunity arises for the call of nature none of us can ignore. Not to mention, it’s free!
Please, Don’t Touch Anything
Please, Don’t Touch Anything only costs $4.99 to purchase. This app is cool for those of us that like mobile gaming as well as the retro-style layout. It’s a game that offers brain stimulation as well as satisfaction for people that can’t NOT do something! Being told not to push the button means you’re definitely going to push it, and have a lot of fun doing so.
Swiftkey is free and offers a better version of autocorrect than most smart phones come programmed with. It learns from your personal styles and mistakes and seems to have a much higher satisfaction rate from its users than the standard autocorrects do. You also won’t miss out on emojis or colors, because it’s customizable as well. Truly one of the coolest apps on the Android market.
